Since ancient times, the natural stone materials have been widely used as building materials for road pavements. Today, they represent one of the more diffused applications of stone materials in construction in the new developments as well as in the historical centres and absorb a large part of national and international production. The stones are very often selected according to the aesthetic qualities and, subsequently, to the experience of their durability and resistance even if, as all the building elements made with natural stone materials, the ones for road pavements have to meet the requirements established by the European and international standards. Very important are the EN standards that allow to obtain the EC certification, essential to operate in local and global markets and naturally requested by public authorities to access to the competitive tenders. The purpose of this work was to deepen the experimental investigations relating to technological tests of abrasion and slip resistance on a wide range of stone trade materials in order to highlight the correlations between the various methods proposed and to better assess how much the natural and experimental parameters affect the real working performance of the used material.
